Montana SOARS (Support, Outreach and Access for the Resiliency of Students) is a collaborative community-driven project designed to nurture and build resilient youth throughout Montana. This culture-centered initiative includes youth, families, and leaders from the communities of Browning, Butte, and Kalispell. Together as a unified voice, Montana SOARS helps to strengthen family, community, and school relationships through trauma-informed approaches that are responsive to community, mental health, and educational needs.
Montana SOARS improves academic and social success by expanding capacity at the state and local levels to increase awareness of mental health issues and by connecting youth with behavioral and mental health services that improve school climate and safety. This project is supported by the Federal "Project AWARE" initiative, funded through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
